beehive black and white

1950s 60s plus size gingham black and white check pin up dress redhead beehive hair

I thrifted this vintage dress on our trip to Springfield, Missouri ages ago. I never really loved it because it was kind of a boring sack of a dress but it was great for wearing around the house or a quick run to the grocery store. A few weeks ago I spent all day making repairs and alterations on a few things and I refashioned the collar and gave this dress some darts at the waist and now it's one of my favorite easy dresses.

  1. It's hard to imagine that much looks shapeless on someone as, well, va voom as yourself! The post-alteration version looks killer.

  8. Lovely, curve hugging dress. I adore fitted, sheath-esque styles like this for summer, too. Way to breath new life in a classic frock, dear gal.

  11. I always loved black and white as in plaid or houndstooth. One of my very fav outfits was a black/white houndstooth check skirt, a black velveteen vest and a white (preferably ruffled) blouse....LOVED LOVED LOVED it. Thanks for showing this!
